Victor Gamma 55mmf3.5は、イタリアの独創的な35mmレンジファインダー機、ガンマI型に装着されているテッサータイプの標準レンズです。
製造元のOfficine di precisione Gamma S.r.l.社は、１９４６年にローマで創業し、１９５８年には廃業した非常に短命な会社ですが、イタリアらしい非常にユニークな精密カメラを製造した会社として名を残しました。
ガンマカメラは、１９４７年から生産された35mmレンジファインダーカメラで、よく「ライカ・コピー機」に分類されますが、機構的には異なる部分が数多くあり、単なるライカコピーとして扱うのはいかがなものかと思います。
なんといってもこのカメラを特徴づけているのは、そのフォーカルプレーンシャッター機構で、上記写真の最後から2枚目を見ていただければ分るように、弧を描いた金属板が使われています。2枚の湾曲金属板が動くことで、必要なシャッタースピードを出すわけですが、やや無理のある構造ですので、実際はカタログ通りのスピードは出なかったようです。この金属板を収容するために、カメラ前面には、このカメラのデザインを特徴付けている2本の突起が作られました。
さらに、ライカと異なる点は撮影済フィルムの扱い方で、ライカが巻き戻しを前提としているのに対し、ガンマはマガジンにそのまま巻き取ってしまいます。市販35mmフィルムのパトローネからどうやって巻き取るかって？それは、最後の写真をご覧ください。赤丸で囲ってあるのが、フィルムカッターの刃です。その左延長線上にあるレバーが少し引き上げられておりますが、このレバーを収納状態から捻って引くと、フィルムが切れてマガジンに収まるという工夫です。この機構はExakta
Varexが有名ですが、同機種に装着されたのは1951年頃ですので、ガンマのほうが早いですね。
また、このガンマI型はライカマウントではありません。専用のバヨネットマウントを採用しましたが、さすがにそれでは売れなかったのでしょう、II型、III型はライカスクリューマウントに変更されました。
そうそう、3枚目の写真をご覧いただくと、製造番号があります。ガンマI型は、00101から生産されていますので、この個体は22番目のものとなります。いままで、この番号より若い番号の個体は見ていません。

Victor Gamma 55mmf3.5 is a Tessar type normal lens equipped on the very
unique Italian 35mm range-finde camera Gamma I.
The manufacturer Officine di precisione Gamma S.r.l. was a very short life company established in 1946 in Rome and closed in 1958, but they left their name in history as a company produced cameras with Italian originality.
Gamma Camera is a kind of 35nn range-finder camera produced from 1947,
and it is often classified as "Leica copy ", but there are many
different points mechanically, I wonder it is rather unsuitable to handle
as it.
This camera above all is characterized by its unique focal plane shutter mechanism using two metal plates each has an arc shape as you can see in the
second last photo above. By moving two curved metal plates will bring out
the necessary shutter speed, it seems that the actual speed did not come
out as catalog because it was a little difficult structure. To accommodate
this metal plate, two protrusions which characterize the design of this
camera were made on the front of the camera.
Furthermore, the point different from Leica is how to handle shot film. Leica
has a principle of rewinding, whereas in Gamma, film is finally taken up
in magazine without rewinding.
How do I separate the film from a commercial 35 mm film patrone? It has
a internal film cutter.
Please see the last photo above. Surrounded by red circles is the blade
of the film cutter. You can see the lever on the left extended line which
is raised slightly, you can cut the film by twisting and pulling this lever
from the storage state of the lever. This mechanism is famous in Exakta Varex
, but it was equipped about in 1951 so Gamma was earlier.
This Gamma I is not a Leica mount camera. Although it was equipped with
its own bayonet mount, it was changed in a year into Leica screw mount
possibly by its low sales.
You can see its serial number in the 3rd photo above. As Gamma I started with the number of
00101, I think this particular one is the 21th production of Gamma. I did not realize the earlier number of Gamma in the past.
